I'm Tired... But OK

Today was a kinda busy day. I had to do my stuff at church. I usually volunteer there on Thursdays and then after church we had our first meeting of the Community Services Expo. I am the president of the Expo and it is nice to start again. But the break was nice. Even though last year I had many breaks due to being sick so much of the time. I sure am praying that this time will be better.

We are working on getting our date guaranteed and seeing what people want to do. Over all, it was a good meeting for the first one of the year. If anyone that is in the Southern Utah area would like to serve on the board, we are looking for people who has a heart for community and people. The Community Services Expo is about helping raise awareness and funds for local non-profits in this area. This is an all volunteer job, but offers many rewards. You get to work with great people and help make a difference in peoples lives. If you would like more information, please get with me. You don't need experience to make a difference.

I would like to thank our newest board member Jennifer Beasley. Thank you....

Closing Program For Community Services Expo

OH... on a not good thing. Yesterday I came home... Water was spraying out all over the place in the back and my kitchen was wet and ughhhhhhhh. But Chuck was gone and wouldn't it be just my luck that is when the hot water pipe bursts. But after having to move my cabinet outside by the water heater, and getting all drenched and sprayed with hot water, I got it turned off. The bad things is that now I have no hot water till our landlord gets here. He will be fixing it in the morning, thankfully. But what can ya do. So I am hoping that it gets fixed since I hate cold showers.

Tonight we had the final meeting for the Community Services Expo. It was a nice evening with a power point presentaion and presentaion of checks and awards to both sponsors and participants. We said good bye to two of our board members. They will be missed for sure. But I know that God will put others into our lives that will work well with the board and the community. I know of one person for sure, :).

It is always nice when we get a couple months off and we won't meet again until 2009. We will get a breather this way and then back to the ole grindstone.... Not a hard grindstone though. We will have fun and the people are great to work with.

Have a very nice night and God Bless.

Broke Down and Got a New Mouse

Ok, I like my roller ball mouse... But it was getting to the point where it just didn't want to cooperate with me. So I got one of these wireless mouses. I will see how it goes. So far so good. Hey the good thing is that I dont have to worry about loosing the ball anymore. But now I just have to worry about loosing the whole mouse. If you know me, you will know that I have a messy computer area. And when I go to look for something and it isn't there... Well, I won't go on. But I will see how it all goes. The lady at Staples told me that I can turn off the mouse to save battery life... Hummm, now to see where that place is at on my mouse. But I am sure that I will get use to it. It can't be that hard can it?

But other then the new mouse thing, nothing much has been going on. I am getting ready to go to Walgreens. Not sure why, but I am going there. I have to pick up something for someone at church, and get my brother in law to go to work.

Oh, tommorrow, there is something kinda cool happening. At the Community Services Expo, a guy that won the Lins 3 minute Western Family Shopping Spree will do the shopping spree tommorrow. What is awesome is that he is living at Dixie Care and Share and can really use the helping hand. It always is nice when someone wins something that needs it. But I am going to close now, you all have a good night and sleep well...

It was a full day...

Today started off kinda yucky. I had to go to the Dr and they put this tube down my throat. I don't advise anyone doing that. It is no fun at all. Nothing I would want to repeat any time soon. But I am sure I will have to on the 12th. They are keeping an eye on something in my esophogus. So this will be a whole new kind of adventrue that I do not want to take.... If anyone wants to take my place, let me know.

After that I went to my church and did the bullitins. That was easy enough. It is always nice seeing everyone there. And it is easy. All I do is copy and fold. How much easiercan it be? Well, the machine could fold, but it isn't a biggie at all.

Then I had the Community Services Expo meeting. It went well. We went over the things that happened on the day of the Expo and what we need to change next year. Really there wasn't too much. Most said we need more advertising and also to pull the booths in closer. I agree totally with that. I thought I was gonnna die by the time I got around to all of them when I was making sure they were all ok and if they needed anything. But all in all, things went fine, not much else is happening.

I hope you all have a good night and God Bless

Community Expo 2008 Highlights

Today was the Community Services Expo. It went really great. The weather was perfect and not too hot or cold. It was right around 80 or so. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

We had around 30 non-profits and about 12 or so churches that came out to participate. There was alot of food and the music was awesome. DJ Lex did the music and we had so many people that commented on how nice it was over the live entertainment. The local news was out and as was Mayor Dan McArthur. He is a nice guy... This was the first time I met him. The Hot air balloon was a big hit. The crew with the balloon ended up donated all the money they raised to the Expo. Which was awesome of them and unexpected. It took so many people to make this happen. Many give me too much credit for it. I may be the president of the Expo. But it took everyone to pull it off with such great success.

We also had some awesome prizes that we gave away as drawings.

Lins Marketplace gave a 3 minute Western Family Shopping Spree away... What was so cool about this was the winner was a man that is working on getting his own place and is living in Dixie Care and Share- For those outside of St. george, that is a homeless shelter and food bank. I was more then happy about him winning.

McMillans Mortuary donated a Mountain Bike. What was cute about this was the little boy that won, was so happy. He couldn't reach the peddles, but he was making a go of it,.lol

Sunset Framers donated a lovely picture that had three Kokopellis on it. The winner was overjoyed with it...

Jessica Ross(Mary Kay Consultant) donated two gift baskets from Mary kay... One was for men and the other was for ladies. It was funny when the DJ won the mens one. But what is interesting about that is that his ex-wife sold Mary Kay and he loved the skin care... And he was happy that he won... And with the awesome deals Jessica is offering right now... They will be checking her out at http://www.marykay.com/jessicaross

Some of the other gifts were gift certificates to taco Bell, The Egg and I, McDonalds, Tuachan Theater Tickets, Food Storage Items, Night at the Movies Gift Basket, Movies about Pornagraphy and more...

It turned out great... Soon I will have pictures on our website located at http://www.communityexposgu.com

Today I am TiRED

Today is one of those days when I want to just go to sleep and wake up at some point in the future... I'm not sure when that is. But it will be nice. I got all snippy at Bridgette. I got upset at her for just jumping on her computer when she got home from school. I do understand she wants to just veg out.We all want to veg out I guess from time to time... After I pick Bridgette up from work... I am going to take some medicine and hope I feel better. But today, I am in a ornery mood. So if anyone reading this is one of my victims of orneryness, then I apologize right now... If I haven't been to you yet, and I do at some point, then I will pre-apologize to you. :)

But I have been doing alot of my stuff with the Community Services Expo. It is this Saturday, so that will be good when it is over for this year. Even though I don't think I have done that much all in all. I have been more sick then anything and Mary Light and the rest of the board has been taking up the slack.

I went to Shilohs Books, Music and GIfts today. They are having an awesome Christmas sale. I got some great deals. So I am happy about that. If you live in Southern Utah, go check out the store. It is located in the Phoenix Plaza off of Sunset Blvd. But I got some cute, cute angels... And they have Christmas Cards for only $2.00. They are trying to make room for the new stuff. Which is cool :)... Shiloahs is one of my favorite stores to shop at. They have some cool stuff.

I know you probably don't want to hear about Christmas right now. It isn't even Thanksgiving yet. But I am working on Christmas Baskets. You can check them out by clicking on the image at the bottom of this blog page. I don't have the images of the baskets up yet, but I am working on that right now. :)

Today is also my daughter Beckiahs 8th anniversary. So if you are reading this Beckiah and Jason, then Happy Anniversary. LOVE YA VERY MUCH

Finally... It is Cooling Down

Wow, what a nice change we are experiencing here in Southern Utah. We were in the upper 90's not too long ago and in the past few days we were in the 50's and 60's... Yeah... I am so glad. I am not a summer person. You can only take off so much cloths before getting arrested. But now, it looks like fall is finally here. We needed it, although some may disagree with me on that one. Seems alot of people move to this area because they like the hotter then Hades temperatures. But not me... I am not a person that wants to get too use to the heat, lol

Other then the heat and me being happy about the lack of it. I have been doing not too much. Tonight I went to a safety meeting thing at Ruby River Steak House. It was a free dinner if you listened to what they had to say. It was interesting, but I didn't want to buy anything. Although fire safety is something we should all be concerned about. So make sure you check your extingushers and smoke detecters. But other then that, thats what I did tonight. My daughter Jessica has been wondering I am sure why I haven't been answering her calls most of the day... But let me tell you that I love her... What is funny too, is that as soon as I wrote this, she called me on the phone... Wonder if that is ESP or what??? But I am sure she is use to me not answering the phone...

Now I am going to get off here and talk to Jessica on the phone. It is hard for me to type and talk at the same time. But then she says that I have a hard time doing anythign at the same time. Hummmm. should smack her down if she wasn't living in North Carolina.

What Motivates Us?

Ok... I will be the first one to raise my hand in the air and maybe in wave it when asked was I motivated to do something because I wanted something out of it. Or I wanted to benefit in some way... I think that is something that if we are honest about ourselves, we all have done... We look out for numero uno...

But tonight I was studying for m a Bible Study I am doing. It is in the Book of Ephesians. Its pretty indepth and alot of it I haven't grasped. Well, I probably do a good part. But I got to one part and it was Eph 1: 13-14 and was talking about our reward in Heaven and how we are children of God.

What came to my mind though is how people are motivated if they know there is a reward in it for them. I posted on Cafemoms about an experience with my daughter and how someone she knows got baptized just because he knew she wouldn't date someone who isn't a Christian. But he obviously didn't get baptized because of his faith in Christ... He was motivated by his own desires or feelings. Which I won't go into that at all. She has an awesome husband, so God took care of that matter.

But what about some people who get to know people because they have alot of money or power. Do they get close to them because they think they are gonna get something out of the relationship/friendship/partnership, or are they sincerley wanting to get to know that person. Are they hanging out with someone that they never did before because they have something they want? I was thinking about this lately when my brother in law Craig and I were talking about how it is terrible how when people die, then family or others will fight over what is left when they die. They don't think about how much they will miss that person, but what they get... Forutunalty, we don't have to worry about that when it comes to my mother in law, she didn't have anything. Besides we would all rather have her then any amount of money. And I feel that way about anyone I am close too. Although there are a few people, in the back of my mind I wouldn't mind if they feel off the side of the earth. But that is for another blog and another time in space, lol.

I often have to check myself and see what my motivations are. Is it motivated by human desire and greed or is it motivated by love and kindness. I would hope I would be motivated by love and kindness...But there are times the human side tries to win out and I need to slap it down and keep it in check.

Ok. I will stop thinking out loud now or stop typing out loud, lol. You all have a good night and sleep well. I have a early day and dang blasted it, I am still on here doing things for the Community Expo and thinking about moitvations...

Oh... On a topic that is unrelated... I am thinking about cutting my hair... Not sure how or what style.. But pondering the thought :)

Crazy is as Crazy Does...

Life can either be very slow or way out of control... Which is better. Right now I think a bit of both. I have been extremly bored lately. Since my Drs have said I can't go back to work yet and my work won't let me go back with out a note... What is a person to do?

Well, I found a way to pre occupy myself a bit. I am working on making Christmas Gift Baskets to bring in some extra money for this Christmas and to help make up for some of the money I'm not getting in. I am also in the process of getting the Community Services Expo done. It will be on October 18th from 11am-4pm. It will be alot of fun. It is a nice time to let everyone know what non-profits are here in Southern Utah. It is free for everyone. There are some things that cost... But all in all it is pretty resonable. As President of the Expo, I just walk around and make sure everyone is doing good and make sure there is no major issues. I also try to dodge the camera when the newspaper and TV station come around. I don't like my picture taken. So I like to stay clear, lol. But for a good cause, I might let them take 1 picture, if I can have them make me look 120 pounds, lol.

Other then that, my life is all about Drs, Drs. and did I say Drs. I am trying to get my daughter Jessica some business for her home business in North Carolina as well. She is a Mary Kay Consultant. And where she lives it is hard for her to meet people. So if anyone that lives in North Carolina or in the Charlotte, Mooresville, Statesville area, let me know. She is in Licolnton County and will drive to where she has to. But she would be very grateful. She is doing this so she can stay home with her son, my grandson...

Other then that, I am trying to stay out of the hospital and keep busy within reason... So I will see what comes of all of this, lol

Today has been filled with....

alot of uneventful things. Well for the most part that is. My husband is a truck driver and does local work in Las Vegas. Thats only a couple hours away, so it isn't too bad. Plus it is nice because if I want to go there for a couple days, his company pays for the room and stuff. So that is even better. I have also been working on the Community Expo stuff. I am the president of it, I kinda slept through the meeting and that is what happens when you do that. They make you president lol. So today, I have been working on that and trying to get some prizes together for that.

The Community Services Expo is all about helping the local non-profits here in Southern Utah. We raise funds and awareness. Its a pretty cool event for the most part. We have alot of fun and its a great day in the park for families. You can check out our website at www.communityexposgu.com and get more information if you like. My daughter Jessica is putting together a couple gift baskets to give away on that day.And my work is giving a 3 minute shopping spree away. I work at a grocery store here. Too bad I can't win prizes. I would know where all the goodies are, lol. We have drawings every 15 minutes or so. If you are in the Southern Utah area or have a business, home or otherwise, anyone can donate and you get free advertising. Nothing is too big or small for this event.

Other then that, I am doing nothing but sitting here and trying to win at the cutest pet on Cafemoms, Jessica challenged me to a showdown. And it looks like she may win. I'm not sure how she can think her dog, that is my dog that went to heavens son. They are the same bloodline and mother and son. How dare she, lol. But gotta love her and love Mickey dog. He is a cutie, I have to admitt :). Have a good night everyone and God Bless.
