The conversation was about Chick-Fil-A... What I was saying is that if I stopped shopping or eating at places that I disagreed with their views I would go nowhere... I'm as American as they come... I'm Christian and I believe in the Christian values... Having said that these are just a few of the places I wouldn't be able to shop at that I normally do because they either aren't Christian or sell things that aren't American made... This conversation was in a jokingly way, but it showed how much we depend on other countries, backgrounds and faiths...
Here is a list of places I like to go that I would have to stop going to if I only went to places that are Christian based or sell only American made items;
Restaurants-
- Carlitos Mexican Food Restaurant- I'm not Mexican and the owners are from El Salvador and they are Catholic... So that would mean I couldn't go there anymore...
- Olive Garden- Not Italian so that would mean no more Raviollie De Portebello or Zuppa Tascano Soup... OH! And no more bread-sticks and the salads...
- Outback Steak House- They are from Australia- So no more of that...
- Alberto's Mexican Food- Hummm, back to me not being Mexican...
- Ocean Buffet- They are a Chinese Buffet and I wouldn't be able to go there anymore either since I have no Chinese in me... Shoot and I really like Chinese too...
- Taco Bell- Well, this isn't my favorite place, but it is my husbands, so I would have to forbid him from going there since he isn't Mexican either... But then is Taco Bell Mexican or what? That's still up in the air...
Misc Items- Cloths, TV's, Computers and so on...
I think I would have to go naked if I had to rely on American made cloths only and that would put the world in shock... And since China has a very small population of Christians, it is more than probable that none of the companies are Christian run and they don't have the same value system I have... If you shop at Walmart, you may be able to walk into the doors since it is owned by Christians... But I guarantee you that the store is filled with stuff from Mexico, China, Indonesia, and so on... And those people and sometimes children working in sweatshops are not people that feel the same way I do...
I have a feeling even my computer which is a Acer is made by Multitech, which was founded by Stan Shih his wife Carolyn Yeh, and a group of five others in 1976, and renamed Acer in 1987. It began with eleven employees and $25,000 in capital. Initially, it was primarily a distributor of electronic parts and a consultant in the use of microprocessor technologies. The global headquarters is in Hsichih City, Taiwan... So everyone better get off their computers if they don't want to have a computer that is from Taiwan...
My TV is a Magnovox and we have a JVC Big Screen... Here is some information about JVC... Wikipedia, Victor Company of Japan, Ltd (日本ビクター株式会社 Nippon Bikutā Kabushiki-gaisha?) (TYO: 6792), usually referred to as JVC, is a Japanese international consumer and professional electronics corporation based in Yokohama, Japan. Founded in 1927, the company is best known for introducing Japan's first televisions, and developing the Video Home System (VHS) video recorder.
Oh, and I hate to burst all of your bubbles... But that gas you put in your car or the car you are driving isn't from the good ole USA... According to Scientific American, It is owned by foreign countries for the most part... We know that dozens of billions of US dollars go to imported oil every month (nearly $1 billion a day) . We know that some of that must go to unstable, unsafe countries... Ten of the countries who we import a lot of oil from are also on the State Department’s Travel Warning list: Algeria, Chad, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Syria... So I would guess that would mean we have to stop driving and heating our homes because of where we are getting our oil from...
The Beasleys- Good Friends- No Same Faith |
Oh, and since I live in Utah and I'm not LDS or Mormon, I would have to stop shopping at any place where Mormons work or shop... Shoot and what about all my friends that are LDS... I guess I would have to kick them to the curve since we don't go to the same church... Sorry Jenn and Scott and everyone... I think we would be out of a job too since my husband works for a company where the owners are LDS and there are many LDS workers there... Wow, good thing this isn't reality and only a sarcastic posting...
My daughter Jessica would have to stop going to Dixie State College since it was started by the Mormons... And Oh my goodness, people of all religions go there, so we must not associate with anyone of any other religion... What a sin or travesty that would be?
I would also have to eliminate friends or family of mine that are either gay or lesbian since I believe in traditional marriage... I would loose a few there... Thankfully I don't have to do that... And while I'm at it, I have to get rid of my friend Shirley M... She is much too tall for my own good... I need to stick with people that are the same as me... Besides she drinks her coffee black and I like cream...

I know this sounds like I'm making light of the argument that is going on with Chick-Fil-A... But to me it sounds like people are trying to make companies or individuals conform to their views and choices... That isn't right... Everyone has a right to worship or not worship God... I choose to do that... Thankfully we are given free will and we live in a country where we can shop where we want, go places, eat and worship... I have no right to tell someone what is right for me and nobody has a right to tell me what to believe... If someone doesn't like to go somewhere or what they are selling, then don't go... These are all privileges that we have...
Sometimes I don't understand why people have to take up fights that wasn't a fight at all or a cause... I'm all for fighting for ones rights, but with this whole thing, I didn't see where the fight began since they were stating personal beliefs and values... It wasn't like they were telling everyone you had to believe like I do if you want a job or want a chicken sandwich... Sign on the dotted line if you agree to my core values... That's goofy if anyone asks me...
In closing, I have to say that I don't choose people who are important to me because they believe as I do... I choose to have them in my life because I want too... I choose to shop and eat where I want too... I do that because I like the service and food they offer... Even though I would have problems if they were part of the mafia and I could get killed going there, lol... There has only been one place I refused to eat at and that was because they had no problem telling people that if they didn't believe or vote as they did, they weren't welcome and they didn't want to hear it... Now they are out of business...
I'm interested to hear what you would have to stop doing or going if you only went to and bought from companies you share their views with...

I second that Angie... So Shhhhh Jen Jen, lol... Could you imagine the world if we used only items that goes along with our faith or values... I think we would be back in the days with the cowboys and Indians...
Speaking of cowboys and Indians-they weren't exactly on the same wave link, either. Going back further, the Jews didn't talk to the Samaritans....Somehow, I had the idea the the USA had fixed all that by this freedom of speech thing. Just shows how much I know!
LOL Shirley... I like your way of thinking and you may be right...
